Glamis Castle

Enjoy the history and spectacle of Glamis Castle. Our nearest tourist attraction, Glamis Castle on Strathmore Estate (DD8 1RJ) is only a 12 minute drive from Newton Farmhouse. Take a guided tour with one of the expert guides and soak up the atmosphere of a thousand years of history then enjoy a stroll in the grounds and visit the nature trail, Italian and Walled Gardens.  Browse in the Gift Shop or just pop in for lunch or afternoon tea in the Victorian Kitchen Restaurant.  Glamis has a special place in our hearts at Newton Farmhouse.  Our marital blessing was at Glamis Kirk and my father was from Glamis, farming as a tenant on Strathmore Estate  before buying Nether Drumgley.  He was named after Fergus Bowes Lyon, the Queen Mothers brother who was killed at the Battle of Loos during the First World War 1915.  The stunning silver ship you will see during your tour was in fact gifted to the Earl of Strathmore from their tenants including my Grandfather.
