Welcome to Newton of Fothringham Farm

Thistle Awards Regional Winner 2018-19Newton of Fothringham is an award winning farm with a difference. In the peaceful, idyllic setting of Angus, Scotland, lies the traditional, working, family run farm that offers not just a well-deserved break in the farmhouse bed and breakfast or self catering cottage, but memories to last a life time.  Graeme and Louise, and family, run the farm to give our 2 and 4 legged guests the best agritourism adventure imaginable and recently won 2 of VisitScotlands' Regional Thistle Awards for the Most Hospitable B&B/Guesthouse and the Best Outdoor Experience.

The farm provides a treat for all five senses!  Enjoy the peace and quiet with the odd tractor in the distance or cow across the field. Explore using the trails around the farm taking you on a journey through nature. Relax in the beautiful, serene location or have a blast with your little ones on a tour of the farm that introduces you to Timmy the vintage tractor and our cherished animals, often run by Louise and Graemes’ twins.  We also offer unique Highland Cow, Goat and Alpaca Experiences including alpacas attending your wedding.

Scottish Rural Awards Nominee 2016Many animals over the years have found a new home at Newton Farmhouse. We love building relationships with them and watching each of their quirky characters come out. We have several goats that love attention; sometimes a free range one accompanies us on the farm tours along with our friendly dogs and cat. Four of our eight alpacas are named after Disney characters and are very protective over the sheep! Bolt lives up to his name. The farm is also home to two stunning highland cows, Julie & Hetty, some very curious runner ducks, Lucy the micro pig, who loves her home comforts and the hens who lay their wonderful golden eggs to make your breakfast extra tasty.

Scottish Tourist Board 4 star GOLD Famhouse ratingOur authentic farm has attracted many families and with contemporary country-themed rooms are ideal for that peaceful escape from city life. The newly refurbished rooms offer everything you could possibly need. Stay in the farmhouse for a personal and unique service, or try the three bedroom self-catering cottage just one field away from the farm, also perfect for families. Centrally located, Newton Farm Holidays is an ideal base from which to explore Scotland, ideally situated for many activities including shopping, golf, curling, hillwalking, fishing, shooting, off-road driving and many tourist attractions including Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the Queen Mother.

Children welcomeWe don’t just take care of our guests and animals – we pride ourselves on preserving the wildlife and supporting the local community. Green Tourism Business Scheme presented us with a gold award for our use of solar panels, minimum water wastage, recycling and other sustainable practices. Newton Farmhouse was among the first businesses to be granted the “Taste our Best” award by Visit Scotland for our use of fresh, local produce in our Taste of Angus breakfast.

BRINGING YOUR PETS

Pets welcomeAt Newton Farm Holidays we recognise the importance of our animals and therefore we are happy for guests to bring their own well behaved pets with them either on our farm tour or to stay in our cottage or B&B. Please note alpacas do not like canines so dogs cannot come on an alpaca walk.  Please confirm with us in advance so we can have your pet welcome pack ready for those staying.  We only charge an extra £10 per stay (not per night) towards the cost of the extra cleaning required. Please see our guide to pets on the farm here.
