The castle is only a 45 minute drive North from Newton Farmhouse to Stonehaven (AB39 2TL) In 2013 Dunnottar Castle was the Scottish entry for the 8th Wonder of the World and you may recognise it from the Disney Pixar film “Brave” as Dunnottar was used as the inspiration for Merida’s DunBroch family Castle imitating Dunnottar’s staggering surrounds and making it an outpost by the sea.
